Lens Studio
Photo sharing app snapchat releases an AR developer tool, Lens Studio, for Mac and Windows users to design their own 3D objects.
The app simulates the internal tools Snap uses to build lenses in Snapchat. However, several new AR objects inside Snapchat could be a creative asset for the app, where 70 million users a day interact with lenses.

In 2015, Snapchat comes with machine learning-based Lenses feature, giving users a funny way to share images with scary effects planted on their face. Later, the company bring sponsored Lenses for advertisers. In 2016, snapchat launches World Lenses, is an augment for users to their surroundings with funky graphics.
This has been an amazing year for AR as a technology, says Eitan Pilipski, who leads Snap’s camera platform team. We are really excited to take this tool, and make it as simple as possible for any creator out there to have a presence on Snapchat.
Build their own Lenses
Now, this year Snap comes with the new Lens Studio is making it easier for creatives to build their own Lenses from scratch. This AR app available to download globally, and anyone can create their own AR Lenses.

It is a full-fledged desktop application, means users create and save projects, with templates and guides included for a little AR inspiration. Users can create their own Lenses from scratch. Also, share their Lenses by creating unique Snapcodes, or deep links.
The created lenses can also share from the snapchat camera. The creator’s name will be attached to the lens, and Lens Studio will offer creators metrics about how often their lens has been used.
According to snapchat, the Lens Studio has partnered with seven AR development agencies to help advertisers create Lenses, both for user faces and the 3D world. This AR app will help Snapchat open up to more brands, given that they will no longer have to rely on Snap’s own in-house creatives.
