Witchwood expansion

Popular digital card game Hearthstone got a major update and adds 136 new cards with its new Witchwood expansion and removing 314 from standard play. The new Standard format includes The Witchwood and all three expansions, Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, and Kobolds and Catacombs released last year.

Game developer Blizzard Entertainment intends to release more expansions in the year, and these cards eligible in both Standard and Wild play.

New mechanics

The new expansion brings a new mechanics, Rush and Echo, to the game. Rush is similar to the existing Charge mechanic but restricted only to attacking minions on the turn they first played.

The other mechanic Echo allows a duplicate of the spell or minion to be cast as many times as the player has mana to do so. This seems to inspire by the Shaman Spell Unstable Evolution, presented in the Kobolds and Catacombs expansion. Several other cards are depending on werewolves and obtain an idea from Magic: The Gathering’s Innistrad expansions by changing their details each hand they’re over a player’s hand.

User who is sign in to Hearthstone, this week will receive three free Witchwood card packs also get a random Legendary creature from the new expansion. Also, players get a special hunt to unlock a new Druid portrait for their hero by winning 10 games in the new Standard format. There will also a PVE component to The Witchwood, but it won’t make accessible for two weeks.
