AI and security features to G suite apps
Google brings new AI and security features to G suite apps for getting more users to Google cloud apps. Nearly, 4 million customers now using G Suite apps, includes Docs, Sheets and Gmail.
Two years back Google announces a Smart reply feature for Gmail now it’s available in Hangouts Chat. The smart reply feature uses AI to recommend reactions to messages in Hangouts Chat. Now, we will build an AI feature on one of G Suite product and then bring it to others.
At the Google Cloud Next event, the company said the smart reply feature speeds up email communications with more than 10% of consumer Gmail replies.
Prabhakar Raghavan, vice president of Google Apps, Google also offered voice commands for its Hangouts Meet team video conferencing tool, which will be offered to some customers later this year. Users will be able to start a video conference just say, “Hey Google, start the meeting”.
In the meantime, Gmail users in G Suite will get Smart Compose, an AI feature announced earlier this year. Now, the features of G Suit apps available in the next couple of weeks. Smart Compose empowers the AI to autocomplete email text with suggestions for commonly used phrases, greetings and personal details such as addresses. The AI features include grammar correction with Docs now available in beta, which provide suggestions for changes in English language text.
AI enabling voice commands
By embracing AI enabling voice commands, Google’s strategy is aiming squarely at Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana as the speech assistant wars intensify beyond the home and into the workplace, said Angela Ashenden, a principal analyst at CCS Insights.
Google also reveals security features of new investigation tool that allows admins to investigate suspicious work, such as large file transfers revokes user access and delete malicious emails from a single console.
Google said, the new AI and security features should help it grow further. Also, mention new capabilities to manage G suite apps data across geographic regions. Depending on enterprise requirements, users can choose where primary data stored in key G Suite apps, such as in Europe or US.
