AMD advanced Semi-Custom SOC

After getting the best supplier of gaming CPUs in 2018 global gaming market, Semiconductor manufacturing company AMD announced their upcoming Semi-Custom SOC (system-on-chip) for gaming PCs and consoles.

While, AMD designs this new Semi-Custom SOC for Chinese upcoming gaming PC and consoles. Also, the company partnering with a Chinese company Zhongshan Subor.

The new Semi-Custom SOC is powered by Zen Ryzen CPU and Vega GPU architectures. The Zen Ryzen CPU features are 4 cores and 8 threads, and it scanned at a base frequency of 3.0 GHz. Also supports 8 MB of L3 cache, 2 MB of L2 cache and 35W TDP. The Vega GPU graphic chip with 24 CUs means the GPU delivers up to 4 TFLOPs at max clocks.

The 256-bit memory bus delivers up to 8 GB of GDDR5 VRAM. Features include a 128 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD storage, full VR Ready support the necessary I/O.

SOC in Chinese gaming consoles

AMD said, “designing a semi-custom SoC for Subor represents an exciting opportunity for AMD to make high-performance technologies even more accessible to gamers in China. The new SoC is also a great example of our semi-custom strategy, where we take our differentiated IP and tailor to meet the specific needs of a customer to create a product only AMD can deliver”.


In terms of performance, the Semi-Custom SOC products are faster than Xbox One and PS4 consoles to deliver better performance for Radeon graphics.

While, the Subor gaming PC’s plans to launch their gaming PCs in August and they exposed at ChinaJoy, the largest gaming and digital entertainment exhibition in China. Also, both the gaming consoles and PCs featuring the same hardware with a custom-built operating system that may launch by the end of 2018. The price of gaming PC may expect at 4998 Chinese Yuan. While, the gaming consoles may release in late 2018.
