Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi mesh network system
World’s largest consumer Electronics manufacturer Samsung is attracting consumers every time with their latest products. This time, the Samsung Electronics America brings a new AI based smart Wi-Fi router named SmartThings Wi-Fi mesh network system comes with a built-in SmartThings Hub that delivers an advance home network with added smart home control that covers your entire home.
Mesh network is a latest Wi-Fi technology it acts a single Wi-Fi network, means a large group of devices run by single network. This type of Wi-Fi technology mostly used in military and commercial business areas.
However, to implement AI support in the smart Wi-Fi router, Samsung partnered with the San Francisco based AI startup Plume specialised in developing Wi-Fi Pods and SuperPods. The Plume routers will deliver a specific bandwidth to each connected device and delivers maximum Wi-Fi capacity to your home. With the Plume’s HomePass feature you can setup a special login and password for guests.
Smart Wi-Fi router features
As per today’s tech news, the smart Wi-Fi router supports Qualcomm Quad 710MHz processor with 512MB RAM and 8GB ROM and the router speed is 866MBPS at 5GHz and 400MBPS at 2.4GHz.
SK Kim, Senior Director, IoT Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics America said, “The smart Wi-Fi router can control your electronic devices in home, with mesh capability to eliminate coverage gaps plus a built-in SmartThings Hub to easily monitor and control hundreds of compatible smart products”.

While, Samsung’s open SmartThings ecosystem ‘SmartThings Hub’ allows users to expand their home more smartly with new SmartThings Wi-Fi. The smart Wi-Fi router comes with 3-pack and each router covers 1,500 square feet, totally it covers 4500 square feet. While, the 3-pack Wi-Fi router comes in $279.99 and for single router $119.99 available in the Samsung outlets and company official site.
Along with the smart Wi-Fi router, Samsung also announced the updated SmartThings Hub, Water Leak Sensor, Motion Sensor, Multipurpose Sensor and Smart Outlet products. The updated SmartThings Hub supports latest Zigbee, Z-wave, and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity protocols and gives more flexibility to users, means user can directly connect to Wi-Fi without Ethernet cable.
While, the price of updated SmartThings Hub is $69.99, sensors is $19.99 to $24.99 (Water Leak Sensor, Motion Sensor, Multipurpose Sensor) and Smart Outlet is ($34.99) available at Samsung.com and Samsung outlets.
