With more increasing subscriptions more profit generated to Netflix it started developing other payment channels for iOS to gain more profit.
As Apple gets 30% from all payments from its apps making loss to Netflix. It has decided to overtake iTunes payment process. If this happens Apple has to modify its payment policies and lose $16 billion.
But Apple haven’t mentioned specific reason for why it has started testing this now
Netflix implemented on 33 countries by disabling the payment option in Apple in purchase apps for new and old subscribers until September 30 across Europe, Latin America and Asia. Meanwhile, Users signing up through app are redirected to website for processing payment.
Netflix to join with Spotify
While Apple began its payment-sharing agreement by taking 30 percent of all commissions. It changed the policy in June 2016. Taking a 30 percent cut during the first year with a service, and a 15 percent in subsequent years.
Moreover, Netflix to join with Spotify as it will not offer in app subscriptions if it stops payments through apple. It has been already looking for original content for its Apple TV platform.
The report notes that the experiment will show customers one of two options: Ability to sign up in app with only iTunes Mode of Payment and sign up only via mobile browser.
