AT&T has just announced that it will stop its Smart Limits service from November 26. However, customers using the service will able to benefit from its features by getting the new AT&T Secure Family app.
The new AT&T Security Family is an upgraded parental control app that comes with intensify location features. AT&T Secure Family has to offer all these improved features not come for free, as parents will have to pay $7.99 per month. On the bright side, they will able to monitor up to 10 members.
Not only location tracking, the new app can send a parent alerts when their child enters or leaves a location. And also filter or block apps by online content based on age settings, as well as set a schedule to limit a child’s internet access time. Other features available via the new app include location history and the option to limit purchases from the App Store or Google Play Store. Some of these features will only enabled after installing AT&T Secure Family companion app on child’s device and pairing with AT&T Secure Family.
Users who are already subscribed to AT&T’s Smart Limits service will directed to download the app for their compatible devices. Also, it’s important to note that some features that are now available via Smart Limits. Such as number blocking and reminders to use Wi-Fi, will going away, which means they won’t included in the new app.
Comparing with other app services
Verizon recently re branded its own parental control app. By upgrading its Family Base app to a new app called Verizon Smart Family. It offers much of the same features of AT& T. And lets users add up to 10 family members to the app which is also equal. It starts at $4.99 a month for partial features, and goes up to $9.99 a month for all the features including location tracking and alerts. There is only one price for AT&T app and also provide all features.
