ASUS is back with another solid chrome book. Recently at CES 2021 virtual event, Asus launched its new Chromebook CX9 and Chromebook Flip CX5 laptops. The Chromebook CX9 is a thin and rugged laptop made for getting work done in harsh environments. Asus says Chromebook CX9 meets MIL-STD 810H US military standards for durability.

 Both laptops are powered by 11th Generation Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Iris X graphics. This type of processor is rare in Chromebooks. Despite Chromebook CX9’s rugged construction it is only 16mm thick and weighs only 2.2 Pounds. Which is much better than other competitor rugged Laptops. Along with that, it looks very nice and comes with a dark gray magnesium-alloy case.

The Asus Chromebook CX9 Especially designed for business professionals will be available in the second quarter of 2021, In North America.  Asus didn’t confirm the Pricing of both the Asus Chromebook CX9 and Chromebook Flip CX5 laptops yet.

Here are some of the details ASUS confirmed about Chromebook CX9.

ASUS Chromebook CX9 is MIL-STD 810H certified. 

This means that the device offers military-grade durability. MIL-STD 810 is a US Military Standard test for emphasizing an equipment environment design and to test its limits to the conditions that it will experience throughout its life. The equipment then passes through artificially made stressing environmental and climatic conditions using the laboratory test.

These types of tests are used for Military applications, now it is often used for commercial products as well. The objective is to evaluate product performance when exposed to these harsh conditions.

It will help in determining product deficiencies, shortcomings, and defects in product design, functioning, and manufacturing process. ASUS confirms that its product, Chromebook CX9 comes with the MIL-STD 810H US certified. This means that the product ensures military standards for durability.

Asus also said that it comes with Titan C Security:

Titan C is the Google-designed security chip for Chromebooks. It defends from the core to maintain your device security and protect user identity and also ensure system integrity.

Asus also ensured that the system will receive software updates every six weeks with the latest protections. Along with this Chromebook also features a fingerprint sensor for password-free login.

ASUS Chromebook CX9 Runs on Chrome OS:

It runs on Chrome OS, This operating system primarily supports web applications. It simply functions as a gateway for accessing the internet and managing connections, interactions between users and apps, or data stored in the app.

The Chromebook CX9’s are lightweight and energy-efficient computers made for optimizing cloud-based computing environments. However, it also comes with pros and cons. 

Using this Chrome OS in Chromebook CX9, Makes it effective and efficient. When it comes to using hardware resources. The user interface is simple and clean. Setting up this Chrome OS is also very quick. Along with that, comes with minimal maintenance.

Another advantage is that android apps can be run in Chromebooks with this OS. Users can download and install apps from both Google play store and Chrome web store.

Display: Asus Chromebook CX9 features a 14″ FHD LCD display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. This means you can take full advantage of the visual experience. Immersive virtual gaming experience and with ease you can access online tasks. At the same time protecting your eyes.

Camera: This Chromebook CX9 has a 720p HD camera with a privacy shutter. Privacy Shutter prevents unintentional capture images. Either accidental or through malware for using your camera without your knowledge.

This laptop comes with 16GB of RAM and supports upto  2TB of SSD storage. Comes with a backlit spill-resistant keyboard. Along with that, it has Dual speaker audio. Which is Harman Kardon-certified. 

The laptop has a 66Whr battery with ports including USB Type-A, Two thunderbolts 4 ports, and two USB Type-C ports. Along with one HDMI 2.0 port, one mic combo, and a microSD card reader slot. It also supports WIFI 6 for connectivity.

Asus also introduced the Chromebook Flip CX5 and C536 Laptop

Along with the Chromebook CX9, ASUS also introduced Asus Chromebook Flip CX5/C536. It comes with a 360-degree hinge that allows you to use this laptop in tent and tablet mode. It also runs on Chrome OS. The laptop also features a 15.6-inch touchscreen full-HD (1,920×1,080 pixels) IPS LCD display. With 250nits brightness. Along with an 81 percent screen to body ratio which gives enough space to experience visuals and movies with clarity and clear. 

In addition to this, it supports a  stylus and it is powered by an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor and has Intel Iris Xe graphics. The laptop comes with 16GB of RAM and supports up to 512GB of storage. It features Wifi 6 connectivity. 

This Chromebook Flip  CX5/C536 has Wifi Stabilizer Technology. Coming to audio, it has dual Harman Kardon-certified speakers. Along with that, it has Google Stadia. ASUS claims that the Chromebook Flip CX5/C536 will provide a battery life of up to 11 hours with the 57Whr battery.

Enough ports including one USB Type-A port, Two Type-C ports, And one HDMI 2.0 port. Along with one microSD card reader. It has a 720p HD camera along with a privacy shutter similar to Chromebook CX9. With all these features and specifications, the Laptop weighs 1.89kg.
