Huawei has officially announced its next foldable smartphone launch on February 22nd. According to the information on Weibo post on the company’s official page. That the new foldable Mate X2 smartphone seems like a more substantial follow up to the original Huawei Mate X.

Based on reports, the successor of the original foldable smartphone already cleared multiple certifications and it’s been subjected to several leaks. In this second version of the foldable smartphone, Huawei is introducing an inward-folding mechanism, instead of the outward-folding like Huawei Mate X.

The most interesting aspect of Huawei Mate X2 is the company doing a literal 180 for its future foldable devices. Richard Yu the Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO informed that he’s been managing Mate X2 for a while and it’s full of surprises.

Huawei’s new Mate X2 is said to be launched with a new HiSilicon Kirin SoC. The teaser reveals that the Mate X2 design is in sync with the previous reports. It includes an inward-folding design on the Huawei Mate X2. Also, Huawei reported to be using a new hinge design on the mate X2 to support the inward folding designing. The display also appears to come with thinner bezels than the Huawei Mate X as per the teaser image shared by Huawei.

However, one tipster claims that the Huawei Mate X2 comes with a new inward folding design. Which will be different from the present design of the Samsung Galaxy Fold series. The tipster further adds that the handset will come with a 5nm chipset. Which is none other than Kirin 9000 series. The upcoming foldable smartphone Mate X2 might also feature some interesting new technologies.

The new Huawei Mate X2 comes with a5G connectivity and 66W fast charging support. That handles all your power handling issues with the devices. That allows you to work on your projects with a long-lasting battery. This smartphone might also feature a 120Hz refresh rate. Along with an 8.1-inch display when the device unfolded.

Coming to the connectivity part, These smartphones rumored to offer Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.1 support. Along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Also, it will run on Android 10 on top of EMUI 11. This foldable smartphone may come with a scratch-resistant CPI (colorless) polyimide rather than UTG, Ultra-Thin Glass. . The Huawei Mate X2 is said to support face unlock.

The Huawei Mate X2 is rumored to come with a 50-Megapixel primary camera. And a second 16-Megapixel camera also the third camera of 12-Megapixel with a Fourth 8-Megapixel camera. The 16 Megapixel camera on the front is for supporting selfies.

Huawei Mate X2 is TENAA Certified

Huawei X is the company’s first foldable smartphone. Which was announced last year and comes with an unusual backward folding display. Now, the successor of this smartphone Mate X, The Huawei Mate X2 may be in the works. As the smartphone has been found on the Chinese certification site TENAA under model numbers TET-AN00 and TET-AN10. 

Earlier this month the same model numbers were spotted on the compulsory certification of the china website too. The Huawei TET-AN00 and TET-AN10 got their TENAA certification on November 17. According to the listings first spotted by 91Mobiles.

The listings also include that the supposed X2 models will be supporting dual-SIM. And may come with 5G capabilities. The TENAA listing didn’t mention any other details, apart from this.

Recently, Huawei sold its Honor brand of youth-centric smartphones to a Chinese company named Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology. The company informed that it took the decision for its brand’s survival.

However, the smartphone Huawei Mate X2 is unlikely to make it to India. As the Huawei Mate X never made its availability here. Moreover, this smartphone will probably not use Google’s play service as well. Because of the US-imposed ban on doing business with the Chinese manufacturer. But Huawei smartphones depend on software from the company itself. 

Whereas, the teaser image for the Huawei Mate X2 actually indicates that the phone could possibly switch to a different folding screen design. That comes with the flexible panel on the inside same as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold line. And the previous one Huawei Mate X smartphone comes with a single panel. That gets wrapped around the outside when closed similar to the Royole’s Flexpai devices.

Otherwise, there is not much information available about the details of the Huawei Mate X2 yet. Of course, Huawei may not be able to include Google apps and services onboard. Which limits the device’s availability outside of China unless something changes in the business policy by the new Biden’s administration.
